A Good Christmas?

December 26

If you've been watching these posts you will notice that I missed a few entries right before Christmas. I continued the daily countdown with Charlie Brown and Lucy in the driveway and put goodies in the box everyday but I fell short with the written entries. I didn't meet my expectation. Today is the day after Christmas. The condition of my house is evidence of a day well spent with my kids and grandkids. I see wrapping paper, dishes, soot from the fireplace, and Hot Wheels track - everywhere! Ha! I sit here and think - "Wow that was a good Christmas!"

As much as I am enjoying that thought, it also pains me to think that we judge whether we had a good Christmas or not based on how much we enjoyed the day.

I make a strong effort to keep focused on the reason we celebrate Christmas - Jesus right? Yes! It's about Him - not any of the stuff we attach to the day. So if Christmas Day had come and gone with no presents and no guests it still would have been a great Christmas! Because God himself came to us on this day and that is more that we deserve and more than we will ever need. I shared this short video with my family yesterday. I hope you enjoy it. When we truly understand that that celebration is all about Him we can enjoy the freedom from ever having to meet an expectation of what Christmas day should be. Every Christmas is a good Christmas!

John 1:14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
