Best Gift Ever

Updated: Dec 14, 2020

December 13

It was Christmas morning and my daughter was three and my son was eight. With eyes as big a saucers they entered the living room, eyes fixed on the presents around the tree.  There was one in particular that had my daughter's full attention. It was the biggest one and it was as tall as her.   She ran to it, hugged it and said "Mine!"   Fortunately for all of us, it was for her. It was a Little Tikes kitchen and it was her favorite toy for a long time.

What if I told that story differently? What if I said that even though the gift was the biggest and best one in the room, it had been overlooked even ignored. What if I told you that my kids chose smaller gifts that they only played with for a short time and never opened the big one? Well, you wouldn't believe me - because no kid would do that.

But honestly, this is exactly what we do. Christmas is the celebration of God sending us the gift of Jesus. We have an entire holiday what whips people into a frenzy of decorating and gift giving of international proportions and yet many of us never acknowledge the reason for this celebration. The gift of Jesus came at a price we can never earn or repay. But we can share Him, and the eternal joy and comfort that knowing Him brings.

Don't leave Jesus sitting overlooked and ignored this Christmas. Ask God to show you what Christmas is really about and then enjoy a life with a Jesus - the gift that never wears out, never bores you, and forever satisfies.

Luke 2: 10, 11

I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem
